OCTOBER 2008 - CRABBET CRUSADE

The last event sponsored by the Group in 2008 was the Crabbet Crusade at the Top Of the Range Arabian Show in Toowoomba.  Unfortunately there were no Pure Crabbet entries this time, but the Crabbet Related Classes [horses with a minimum of 50% Crabbet breeding] were well-supported.  The classes were judged by Mr Adam King of King Estate International, NSW.  Richard and Glenys Drew had a beautiful team of four horses from Rose Gum Arabians, with their Ralvon/River Oak bloodlines and impeccable presentation.

MAJOR RESULTS:
CHAMPION C-R GELDING - GRANDWOOD ROYALE [Grandwood Jasim/Sheeka]
RESERVE - ROSE GUM GOLDRUSH [River Oak Imprint/River Oak Illusive Girl]

CHAMPION C-R FEMALE - BRENTWOOD MARAQUITA [Amir el Shaklan*/Brentwood Margaritah]
RESERVE - ROSE GUM LAMESIA [River Oak Imprint/River Oak Nemesia]

CHAMPION C-R MALE - ROSE GUM SUNDOWN [River Oak Imprint/River Oak Regal Girl]
RESERVE - WARRAWEE A'BANDOM [Bandomol/Warrawee Gift of Love]

The Supreme Crabbet-Related Exhibit was Ellen Young's magnificent mare BRENTWOOD MARAQUITA.  She has 51.5% Crabbet breeding.

Lia Rose and her gelding GRANDWOOD ROYALE went on to win High Point Adult Rider of the Show.

SEPTEMBER 2008 - CHIP CHASE SADAQA

The Queensland Crabbet Arabian Group was proud to be a sponsor of the 2008 Tom Quilty Ride at Nanango.  At the Ride the high-percentage Crabbet stallion CHIP CHASE SADAQA [Cherokee Mecca/Silala by Silver Spot] was named as a Living Legend of endurance.  He is pictured below with Ron Males, also named a Living Legend, who rode Sadaqa to 2nd place in the 1987 Tom Quilty.  Chip Chase Sadaqa was bred by Pam and John Roydhouse, campaigned by Peter Cole, and is now owned by Toft Endurance.  He is regarded as one of the great endurance sires worldwide.
